From time to time i do a shrimp boil, the recipe is simple and best administered while buzzed or even drunk.
BEER
Chicken broth
minced Garlic
Whole pepercorn
salted butter
yellow sweet onions
potatos
saussages
Shrimp ( use the costco black tiger prawns in the shell, DO NOT USE PEELED SHRIMP )
small clams or cockels
Start with a bunch of bad beer. I like to use tecate but please use your judgment. add equal parts beer and chicken broth to a turkey fryer.
Fill about half way up and then add in the seasonings. There is no wrong answer here as to what to toss in. I use Old Bay, some minced garlic, whole pepper corns, salt, and a block of salted butter.
Start the heat and get a boil going. While you are doing that prep the food, cut up some onions and break the corn into half's. set it all out on trays so you can dump it in at the right times. You can cook lots of things this way but here is what i use. Corn, potato's, a few types of sausages, shrimp and clams.
when you get a boil going good toss in the potato's onions and corn. They will take some time to cook and you can have a shot or three to keep the buzz going while you make it. Now is a good time to prep your serving trays. Get some butter and more old bay seasoning and coat the bottom of a pan with a slurry of butter. This makes sure that the goods stay happy once they are out.
When the corn and potato's are done cooking its time to make some choices. you can pull them out before you add in the shrimp or just toss the shrimp in with the whole mix. If you are cooking up a lot of shrimp it might be a room problem to do it as a unit. once again there is no right or wrong answer. This time i had to much to fit in the pot so i removed the taters and corn and put the shrimp in alone. watch your time on the shrimp. They will cook very very very fast and you can wreck this whole deal if you over cook the. Once they are done you can go for extra credit and cook up some clams!!!! again they will cook very fast.
