Snowing in the Valley

I got to get out with Danny Moss for a snow goose hunt this morning and as usual it was a blast. Started around 4:30 putting out at least 1,000 decoys. The first 1-2 hours was super fun the birds were not really decoying but the ones that passed over less then 40 yards paid the price. We had 6 hunters and ended up with 28 geese total 5 Ross and 23 Snow. Had the entire refuge fly over at one point it was incredible. The weather was in the 50's cloudy sky's it all turned into a very comfortable morning. Great day with great friends and a lot better than being at the office.

Danny is 1st class......And you actually feel like your hunting......What's he thinking on the numbers of snows......I was at about 25,000 a week or so ago.


ps.......That organic alfalfa is looking good......lol

Ya he said the same 25-30k and he doesn't think much more are coming. He is incredible at calling, you would never guess it was just one guy working the call. We should have got a few more birds but the farmer who leases the land for farming started running tractors to cut the alfalfa around 8:30 needless to say it was hard to get the geese in after that. I think we could have got closer to 40 if they were not running but the fields are not there for hunters and they need to make a living. According to Danny we had one of the best hunts of this year so far. He had a 65 day but he said the wind was perfect and the birds set up and asked to get shot.

Last year when I hunted with him we had to pass shoot because of heavy rains. It was neat getting to use the lay down blinds and watch him work the birds.

Now I want to go to Canada!
