Studio Ball

Has anyone ever used a studio ball on their tripod for their spotting scopes? Like this one:

Seems like it would be very fluid and it would beat turning all those knobs and dials on the one I have.

I have used a ball. Didn't care for it. Look into a pistol grip. The cats meow in my book.
