We are on the verge of D16 San Diego Buck selling out before July. Some might wonder what's the big deal is about this. The big deal is that the D16 will become a draw just like Archery A22 did this year.

When I say draw I mean premium tag. The issue what that is this state allows only 1 premium stage per person. So if you hunt archery and rifle then your days of doing that are over at least here.

I believe we have come into this issue because everything is online. It is very easy to obtain tags. I also feel that there are many people staying local because of the cost. Just by being involved in hunting clubs for years now I also have seen a huge growth in the sport of hunting. People start hunting varmints then they work there way into larger game. A natural progression which will only help our sport keep growing.

Just my thought, what are your? ::)

Yep, it will definitely suck for those people that want to rifle hunt and bow hunt. It might come down to what do want more....

You can use a rifle or bow with a D-16 tag but A-22 is archery only. A-22 has a longer season but isn't during the rut (that's a another topic).

It all depends on how you think the herd should be managed. You want trophy quality or opportunities for many people to get out there and hunt...

I only bow hunt so I can get an A-22 and one of the 90,000 AO tags that are available. I can still use the AO during the D-16 down here but again, its archery only so you are right, this may have a significant impact on rifle hunters. If it was up to me, you would only get one deer tag per year anyway...

The AO tag is Buck only right?

The one thing about draws or premium tags is if they don't sell out they are open for over the counter come July 2.

Next year I will probably only put in for A22. Then pick up my other tags come July 2. I have only killed a deer with my bow. This is my primary tool but I am a meat hunter so whatever comes into my sights and is legal they go down. The antlers mean nothing to me but then again I haven't shot one with any antlers worth talking about.

A few of the states I have hunted break the tags down into the weapon of choice you plan to use during the season. If you choose archery then its only during the archery season and so on for rifle, muzzle loader and so on.

The reason isn't because of enternet sales, I have heard from a very reliable source the enviro wackos are buying D-16 tags to save the deer, and force the draw. So next time you hear someone say they give to the national humane society thank them for supporting the wackos. I believe they are partially behind this crap.

I don't buy into all of the environmental wacky stuff. It's an possibility but really spend a day in the field on opening day or rifle. It is completely nuts. Maybe they are buying the tags and using them. ;D I do agree we have an issue with the humane society being a big part of the fish and game or we can call them now the fish and wildlife. Instead of Game Wardens they are now call Wildlife Officers.

The last two years has shown what happens when you put tags online. They sell out :)

Really? That seems a bit extreme and not to mention expensive. Although the West Coast is full of tree huggin wackos!

Interesting theory. If that is the case, that means less tag holders are actually killing animals. They would be "saved" if you will by the liberals that purchased them........and the during numbers/ quality should be going up?

Well this officially ruined my day I really hope d16 doesn't sell out

Young whippersnapper, there are so many things in life to worry about than whether or not D-16 sells out. ;)

Not a theory Breacher. This info comes from the mouth of a person who works for DFG and sells the tags over the counter to people. They are buying the license and the tags. And they will be buying a second tag as soon as they can. Buy it or not wheels its happening. I know some of these enviro wackos personally and if they knew it was pissing hunters off they would celebrate it with an annual burn your deer tag day. It would be as big as gay pride day and united atheist day in good ol Califonia.

Hey that's lot to worry bout especially because I can basically bow hunt everyday of deer season 200 yards from my house and I have an unhealthy obsession with deer and turkey hunting

Hmm, wonder if there is any legislation that prohibits a group of people from purchasing a limited amount of something just so another group of people are unable to. Might be hard to prove though...

That's bull sh##

Look at it this way guys. The state is scamming a lot of the money we generate with license sales from the DFG. And Im sure there spending a lot of it on lame lead studies and other stuff that will be used against us. Things that will lead to future closures. So let the bleeding heart tree huggers put some money back into the fund by buying and burning tags. Im just looking for a bright side in this .
