Trump Opening SD Bay NWR?

Has anyone heard anything about this and know what it may entail? I randomly came across it the other day and noticed it listed SD Bay NWR.

I read about this proposal on the TRCP site. They reported it involved opening the area up to fishing. No mention of hunting.

That brings back so many great memories. Loved that area. Grandpa had anchored floating blinds with oil drums as buoyancy in different areas of the bay as far back as the 40s. Thanks for sharing

Yea but you could use live decoys back then , weight them to the spread so they could not leave and train what was called a Judas duck to fly around the spread with a string on its leg so everyone knew not shoot the duck that brought the wild ones to you. Those were the days....

Yep Jason...We would boat from Chula Vista launch and many times got dropped off by Chip Jenson (Tracy Jenson's former husband)...Great era for wildfowling.

ps...Actually met an old fowler back then and he gave me all his wooden decoys from the 30's & 40's.

Sprig, You're not that old, way before you were hunting or alive, you've done your homework for sure. Rich history in this part of the world if anyone cares to explore it and it should be an incentive by and for the young ones coming to try and preserve it. Who knows maybe if you petitioned the feds under Trump you might be able to shoot a duck in SD bay ?. Come on you youngsters speak up and get active or watch it go away... Join CWA and spend money and time on the things you profess to love but don't have the opportunities to do...

Steve everytime I get around you I apsolutly love Hearing about the history of our community. It is crazy how fast Development, agenda’s and how what’s important to people changes our history.
