Utah deer hunt

Pops and I spent a few days in Utah trying to avoid the rain, we caught a few dry days to score these 2 decent bucks. The widest measured 25” wide. Both deer were shot above 7500”. Rifle used was a Ruger #1 chambered in 243 Ackley. We used 115 bergers. Both shots were over 450 yards. Without good optics we would have NEVER seen these deer as they were spotted over 1100 yrds. One of which was bedded. Learned some good info on hunting Utah. Unfortunately will have to wait 3 or 4 years to go back. This was my dads old hunting grounds when he was a kid. A lot of good memories made, the highlight of the trip for me was spending time with my dad in the mountains.

Yea can’t bring brain matter or bone in meat back into CA so we Euro’ed em in the field

Looks like southern Utah, like pine valley it Zion. Congrats ! I had a Utah Zion general season late tag only seen some small bucks but I also didn’t give the season the time and dedication it deserved. I was also trying to balance my Wyoming trip right before hand.
