About 15 years ago, my wife and I had a dryer or washer go out on us. It was a basic model that we had when we first got married, and it just get going for years. We called a repair guy out. This old guy showed up, probably in his 70's, with one of those old wood tool boxes, the open kind with handle. He fixed it fairly quickly (and it stayed running until we sold that house and let buyers keep it). He told us with appliances, large and small, get the cheapest and most basic ones. They seem to last longer, cheaper and easier to fix, and still "wash your clothes"....
I know there are some really nice high end vacuum sealers, commercial grade, etc. A friend has one and it was uber expensive and works great. I picked up basic food saver off amazon. Maybe $70? I order bags off amazon too. It's been about five years. Super easy to use, still works great and it was cheap enough that if it dies, it's not hard to replace. BTW, yes I'm..."frugal"
