not that it stoped me. I had a pet one for 7 years. This name was Buddy and he lived in an old shoe .
 
We used to catch them on Otay Mountain here in San Diego when we where younger and sell them to a pet store.
We also used to catch tarantulas and the guy would buy anything we brought him, Lets go hunting for rattlers John?
 
You can make a snake poll cheap. wood poll, eye screws , small rope.
 
Sounds like a good idea. We use a trash picker-upper. They work good too.
