Another question regarding buying ammo only for guns that are registered to you... a buddy of mine has a Springfield XD .40 but put a .357 sig barrel in it. Since it's not registered as a .357 sig, he can't purchase ammo for it here?

No... it's only when hunting. They don't want some other creature feasting on the critter you didn't recover and possibly ingesting the lead. Or at least.. that's the BS line they've been feeding us all on this.
