Ive been told by a few hunters that black bears are more dangerous than a brown bear due to the fact when they attack it is usually to eat you and brown bears are usually protecting. Have no evidence myself to prove this though. Id rather not have to deal with either. When legal I carry a sidearm. It does seem like we are hearing more and more of bear and lion attacks. Im surprised we haven't had a lot of attacks in our northern ca mountain areas with all the black bears in town and such. Knock on wood.
