Hello Ladies and Gents:

Long time no talkie. Hope everyone is doing Great. I miss the Great outdoors like you couldn't believe. The last time I was anywhere near a hunt was Dec 10 2015 Ilovesprig was there on lake Henshaw. I was the only one that got skunked that day. After that day things went banana's with personal life. I digress...

Since I was a boy crows have been the guys who taught me how to hunt their number one enemy in the sky. My uncle would pull over just to get a couple of shots off on those black bastards, this was Anderson California 25yrs ago. We would take a portable record player and a amplified speaker (thing was designed for calling crows) Were talking 40years ago here. So killing them has been burned into me. The reason I was taught was the devastation they have on birds Quail Ducks Geese Chucker Turkey They are just not that cool of a bird.

Recently I found this guy http://www.sefs.washington.edu/research.acl/ and we exchanged a few emails and he confirmed everything I thought about those bastards.
Tho my problem with them is STRICTLY urban. I mean I am in the middle of suburbia. I have to get through 10 million in Every direction to escape my home. His issue with them is totally different than mine and maybe yours. Some of the stuff I had NO IDEA about Which led me to me writing this wordy ass POST on crows. Its is possible to rid them from your neighborhood be simply tagging a few. You don't have to even kill them to know that thing can go south in a hurry with this bastards. http://www.sefs.washington.edu/research.acl/Crows_and_other_corvids/swift_marzluff_deadcrows.pdf

There was a migration that blew threw HB and it was one of the best crow shoots I have had since I was in the woods. I was using a 117 air rifle and having a blast! Now my neighbors were a little freaked out with 6 or 7 dead ones laying around and their murders going crazy. I had to lay really low. it was some outstanding sniping! The best thing about all of this was the crows are no long around my neighborhood.

I know city limits bla bla bla.... However this little bit of selective crow shooting can actually clear your neighborhood of these things Thanks for taking the time hope some of this and the link inside give you guys some good information. Really good reading

BTW whats Turkey Season looking like?

God Bless
John

Hey John don’t hold back. Tell us how you really feel about crows....

I have to resist the temptation. Too much potential trouble for me in my little soccer mom and metrosexual infested neighborhood. Wish I could banish them. The crows that is..

Isn't it legal to hunt in city limits with an airgun?
Here is the thing, I go all in. I take to the next limit of being EXTREMELY stealthy. And you would be surprised in your little back yard all of tricks you pick up Sniping these things. Its a one shot and move thing. Just like if you were hunting towel heads in the Middle East (I hope I offended somebody). You don't wanna be seen. And its FUN AS F**K! If you get into it like I do. BTW What the f**k isn't against the law here in Commiefornia. I am surprised the State hasn't busted down some your doors and gave you the Richard Pryor business. "Up against the wall and spread your cheeks"

You may have mistaken my post. I thought is was actually legal to in city limits with an airgun unless that municipality has a specific law on the books against it.

Scouting this weekend with Steve007 we found something which looked like a body part and then realize a crow (impersonating a Raven) had robbed a nest and left only part of the baby inside (not sure the bird type but it was a big one because the embryo was the size of a silver dollar). I should have snapped a picture.
As we were getting into the truck to leave there was a distinct Gronk Gronk which the crow must have learned as a disguise - they are smart birds but must go.

I have watched Crows drop english walnuts on manhole covers to crack them...they knew exactly how high they had to be to crack the shell.... They need to be thinned out
