I’m posting this on behalf of a good friend and a neighbor in northern D-16 who had a deer poached off his property mid-morning Saturday November 2nd. The property owner requested I not put too many location details for security reasons. But this looks like a stone cold poaching possibly from the road and may have been shot next to his driveway. The photo shows a fairly good profile of the poacher and a view from back of the deers antlers. There are no or tiny brow tines with a rounded profile 04D5ED98-AEA0-4E94-BF77-EA4487486007.jpegand the left side is a moderate fork. The right points are not visible. The picture was taken at 10:50 am.

We’re looking for someone who might know who he is. I’ve already spoken to DFW and they are doing what they can to look for him as well but we’re hoping for an actual ID. If you know please PM me in a private message. Do not post any details in an open forum. If you have a name but would rather give it directly to DFW, I will give you the wardens contact information.

As a landowner myself as well as a hunter I can’t tell you what kind of damage this does to our image. It’s the number one reason why private land access has been closed to hunters. I’d like to do everything possible to see that ethical hunters are the one that catch this guy.

Thank you very much.

PS - we may have an ID on the vehicle that I described earlier and that person was hired by another neighbor to do some work on the property so that might be a cold lead.

So this guy has got to be hosed right? I mean its d16..somebody has to sing? Also, he aint packing anything out with that school boy knapsack..fing road hunter..uggh.

Why would he put on his pack if shot from the road? Then again this is the 16

Who took the picture?
It was a game camera on the driveway inside the fence. I’ve worked with a lot of the folks around me to install either game cameras or other security cameras primarily due to some recent break-ins in the area. I honestly never thought we’d get a poacher In a situation that bold.

It’s possible that he saw the buck on the driveway and just tracked it into the property further. That’s actually worse from that family’s safety perspective.

Sorry this happened. It is stuff like this that landowners tend to remember. I hope someone burns this guy.

I’m sure his identity will turn up. He has marks by his left ear. I can’t tell if they are scars or a skin condition.
I learned to always look for a possible positive motive. I can’t see one here. However, he may have shot the deer on public land and was carrying it out using the shortest route. That wouldn’t be legal but it’s slightly less scary than if it turns out he was actively hunting as a trespasser.
