Sounds like he got the deal of a lifetime paying a $9000 fine for a hunt worth $20000+

In my opinion he should've been banned from hunting for ever.
One thing is to make an honest mistake trespasing where there is no fence nor posting and a different one is to dig under a fence that is 8 ft tall.
Those are the actions that make us all look bad.

I don’t understand how he thought he could shoot that buck off the private ranch and then post the picture online, not realizing the ranch guys would recognize it immediately. I guess that’s what makes him the dumbest poacher. At least when you shoot a forky off Ortega Highway, no one’s going to notice it’s missing, and driving off with the whole animal helps too.
