State land to Fed or BLM

Hey guys, I've been looking around to find answers regarding using trail heads that start on State parks to access Fed or BLM land for hunting. I wouldn't want to assume i could to only find out I'm screwed! Anyone have any info on this concern?

I can tell you that walking thru Palomar State Park to access CNF with a firearm is illegal.....A friend found out the hard way (he was shooting band-tails).

I also know it's legal to access BLM from the PCT that goes thru private prop.

I would say the last thing you want to do is park somewhere like cuyamaca hike through to public and then drag a deer back to your truck. I don't know the exact rules but I am 99% positive you can't do it. Just like you can't access public through private.

Unless the private is not posted

I was talking to the Palomar Ranger yesterday and he said that even they cannot go through private property to access CNF (this particular case was a road through multiple private properties to the CNF in which the proper easements are not in place for the road to be available to the public or the Rangers. It is not a driveway because there are multiple driveways which come off it and the road continues well into the CNF.)

I would get a map and ask a game warden what you are trying to do on the map. He is the one that will give you the ticket
