    Slana

Just accepted a job in Slana beginning in late may and running through end of September. I won't have the facilities for any big game hunting, but think I'm going to bring along the trusty 12 gauge and see if I can get into some upland birds. With that being said, anybody have any tips/advice...

    Grouse & Quail

No bueno... haven't heard or seen a mq. All my valley quail spots are burnt...fresh shells at each spot and no quail to be seen or heard. Saw hundreds over summer but they put the slip on me. Need t find some new spots. Bum on the grouse too. Talked to some people, didn't see any as well. Too...

    Motion Ducks

Thinking of finally investing in some electronic decoys, buddy of kine had the mojo but we don't always hunt together. As far as I can tell on the regs, as long as wings do not spin electronic decoys are ok before December. Anybody know if this is the case, or are they only good after December...

    Grouse & Quail

Anybody getting ready to chase some grouse? I've got some spots around Mammoth that i'm looking forward to. Maybe just and armed hike but still nothing better than taking the 12 gauge for a walk. Mtn quail coming up too, anybody heading out for the early quail opener?

Looking forward to the chase more than anything. I won't be out until Monday so we'll what the opening day parties are able to bring on home. If anything else, i'll come out of it with some chukar spots. Some logistics errors mean I may not be able to really hunt, will still be out there and...

    Backcountry E. Sierras

Haven't seen many down low for about a month. I know they're around but the larger numbers already set off on their migratory routes. Also had some light snow today on the mountain, crazy year.

    Backcountry E. Sierras

Just an update from the Eastern Sierras. I work on the mountain (still have 30-40 foot drifts of snow), and the backcountry is looking like it will not be open for foot travel for at least another month. At least. Went and scouted for some deer and they've already worked up and over some of the...

Shoot me a pm if you're in the area. Minus the highway shutting down had some epic days last winter. A few bands in the mix too.

Word for the wise - find some of us locals before you come up and try to make some hunting friends around here. Lots of good spots ruined due to pressure from tourist hunters who use google maps to find their spots. Make some friends, buy us some beers at the bar, and you're much more likely to...
