Following up on this; My black lab has no pedigree history of hunt tests. Does this mean it’s not worth training for gun dog work? Or how valid is pedigree history?

Hahah! I’m going to go down Saturday morning. Try to walk on after the sweat line. If I can’t get on I’ll go do some coyote in the valley. Do you know? For walk on after sweat line do we still have to be to stand by 3am. I imagine they don’t get to walk ins till at least 4am

I ended up not making it down. My two little girls got sick, and then I had a work meeting at 9:30 so it meant I was only gonna be able to go for about an hour. Just figured it wasn’t worth the drive and the cost and fuel. For sure, gonna try to walk on on the 17th though

I just started the cornerstone dog academy for my 8 week pup. It mentions not giving them any toys to chew due to bite issues? Is this realistic or is there something you can give them? First gun dog in training.

Great insight. I appreciate it. I will be most likely on my own unless a buddy wants to come glass with out there. Plan to hike a mile-2 into drainages and fingers where I can camp for a night or 2 and try to turn up then pack out if nothing is present.
