Hi Everyone - It's my second season hunting and wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking around here the last year. I'm in my late 30s located in Los Angeles and spent last year scouting bits of D11/D13/D14. Chasing deer and bear. Had a successful pig hunt up in central california as well. Spent last season chasing deer up in D13. Only saw one legal buck but it was too far away for me to close the distance. The eternal optimist in me tells me this year is gonna be the one! Always looking for info on where to go/what to do -- would appreciate any tips (thanks in advance). Also, finding myself in need of a new hunting partner as well. Great to meet you all.

You're doing great if you saw a legal buck on public in those units as a newer hunter.

My advice would be sticking to one unit / area and knowing it cold.

Only a D13 forkie! I was planning on sticking to D13 since my hunting partner last year lived there but D11 is closer to me. If I find someone in D14 to go with I could commit there since there's more water. I'm tired of schlepping 30 lbs of water in.

Those are pics of does from scouting. After I saw the forkie in my binos, I passed off spotting to my partner and pulled up my rifle. By the time I got it up, all I saw was its white ass disappearing into a bush. I don't glass with the scope on my rifle because there's other hunters around.
