Getting ready for my first NRL Hunter match

Yeah, Angeles is about a 45mi drive (1-1.5hrs through the city). Ive been once, those LONG ranges are awesome, so much more fun than a 50-100 yard range

Getting ready for my first NRL Hunter match

I live in La Mirada. Closest to us is...Raahauge in Corona I believe. For standard ranges that is, since most public land has had restrictions put in place that discharge of firearms is only allowed for hunting, no target shooting allowed.

A Newbies Journey to find a hunting spot: Volume 3 - The Signs

I felt like that is what I was seeing the most, either the berries or hair, some poor bunny got himself ate for dinner

A Newbies Journey to find a hunting spot: Volume 3 - The Signs

In your third picture, I have seen the little berry type droppings in the very middle...but not the rest of the deer poop unfortunately.

A Newbies Journey to find a hunting spot: Volume 3 - The Signs

No other pictures unfortunately. Pig makes a little sense, though I wouldnt have suspected them at the spot I was in. Maybe someone in the area has pet pigs, because there was also horse droppings around. Ill keep in mind track sizes more as I am out searching. I will likely return to this...

    Recommendations wanted - First rod+reel

Awesome, thank you. Garage sales have been tough for me to hit, since I work weekends (Fri-Sun) and nobody is hosting a garage sale on a Tuesday morning. I also don't trust CraigsList much, mainly because I do not know what Im looking at to know if I am getting a good deal.

Getting ready for my first NRL Hunter match

If I had money, I would be so up for doing this. As it stands, the closest 100 yard range to even train on is a good 40 miles away, plus the cost of ammo... Sorry, my jealousy is on full display haha

A Newbies Journey to find a hunting spot: Volume 3 - The Signs

If I’m not mistaken, the coyote scat tends to have hair in it from eating animals (and those little berries too?) whereas domestic canine doesn’t. Also, the first picture, deer track? Very small, without any larger near it. Second picture looks like a day old coyote paw. Third picture I have NO...

A Newbies Journey to find a hunting spot: Volume 3 - The Signs

Welcome back to the most boring book you'll read all week! This past Tuesday, back at it looking for animals. Look, at this point, I just want to catch a glimpse of a deer. Ill save you the time, I didnt see any. However, what I did find this time compared to the last outings, was good...

Gun Law properly submitted to congress

Well...its because I live in Los Angeles County (and am also a county employee) and if ANYONE thinks our BOS will do ANYTHING hunting/fishing/gun ownership friendly, theyre sorely mistaken. In fact, the only reason I dont bring up anything hunting related to them is because as of right now...

A newbies journey to find a hunting spot: Volume II

Yeah this pack is killing me. 10 pounds in water alone (4 liters) as I was also expecting to be suckin down quite a bit due to the hike portion itself. Got home with 1 liter left, so I wasn’t too far off. I’ll probably leave a lot of the snacks and emergency food at home next time if I’m doing...

A newbies journey to find a hunting spot: Volume II

Yeah, the power lines up here are VERY distinct. For this spot, I don’t mind putting it out there. Trail up to Mount Bliss. I probably won’t return other than to hike the summit, won’t even bring the rifle next time, probably bring the GF instead. If I found anything indicative of game, the...

A newbies journey to find a hunting spot: Volume II

Steve, I keep saying I need to get down there. I’ve probably told you specifically a half dozen times I’m always willing to take a walk with the experienced gents, I’ll give you a call this weekend and see if we can’t set something up. I’ll bring some treats from my home bakery as well...

A newbies journey to find a hunting spot: Volume II

Lots of time spent looking down. Found fresh Yote scat and some tracks, then some older scat as well. I’m thinking the fresh may have been from the feller I saw in the muni park, as there was only one pile and one set of fresh tracks
