    XXL Down

Between this thread & the Harold & Kumar show, I'm having bad JHO flashbacks. Its too entertaining to even try to set people straight. I think I'm starting to love the internet too. Naw, being outside is way more entertaining...but this does help to fill the gaps.

    Sportmen's Catering Service

I was actually talking to Frank about that this morning. Not sure why that came about but my guess is that some new State employee who had never dealt with the permit before, just didn't want to deal with it. One of the reasons was, "there's nothing else like it in the State". Scott Sewell...

    Sportmen's Catering Service

Sportmen's Catering Service was established in 1965 by my Grandfather, Max Berg. After 42 years of owning & running the business it got to be too much for him to handle in his older years. He then sold it to long time Niland residents, Frank & Marilyn Bailey. Marilyn worked during the days for...

    My last cat...probably!

3 days too late. Saw what at first was a single cat getting some morning sun. Then another one came out & then another! Damn lucky cats! Sorry for the blurry photos.

    Bandtail Pigeons?

Gave them a try yesterday. Got up there late & went high in Hope's that the crowd down low had pushed them up. Only saw 2 birds in a tree but couldn't get close enough to get off a shot. Beautiful day though & nice to get out & make some tracks. I wasn't the only one making tracks.

12/22 Wister - is this how it works?

Just the tip of the iceberg.

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! A friend sent this too me while taking his kids out to look at Christmas lights. Said it was in Poway. Some impressive bucks there. What a great idea.

You did it right. Sounds like a great time filled with many memories. Congrats on a great ram.

12/22 Wister - is this how it works?

So you accept a generous offer for free decoys & didn't have the courtesy to show up on time or even call because you chose to do something else. Classy. Driving a Mustang in Wister mud?...Bad Karma or a few cards short of a full deck? I'm thinking both.

12/22 Wister - is this how it works?

Where did you put all your free decoys?

12/22 Wister - is this how it works?

Trapline, for the most part, Wister doesn't have premade blinds like you would see at San Jacinto or many of the Nor Cal refuges. You have to build your own with what is out there or bring out blind material with you. Arroweed is the material of choice. Frank sell bundles of it at the Sportman's...

    Valley Bird hunting recommendations?

Yes, 1 federa stamp & 1 CA state stamp no matter how or where you choose to hunt waterfowl in this state.

    Salton Sea Hunt

I think I'd hunt that spot again.

First rain thread of the season

Not sure exactly who. Depends on where the canal failed. I don't have locations but wherever the first one is at, anyone north & west of there to the Alamo would be cut off from my understanding. I would expect this to be priority one for IID.

First rain thread of the season

I just heard the Highline has multiple breaks so no one is getting water at this time. Not sure how much down stream damage that was caused or what is needed to make the repairs.

First rain thread of the season

I figured the IV would get a little rain but not as much as it did, this early. If this continues every week or even every other week, the roads will be rough all season. I hate driving on them after they've had a few days to dry out. Talk about rough.
