Thanks for that. As it stands I’ve got several cases of 20ga bismuth in various loads from 7 to 3 shot and a dozen or so boxes of tss turkey. The last few years I’ve been shooting BOSS 20ga. It’s knocked down everything I connect with from quail and dove to pheasant, ducks, rabbits and turkey...
Probably opening a can of worms here. I want to look for a dedicated duck gun. I can see now why my nice upland wood stock guns probably shouldn’t be getting a lot of action in a duck blind.
Fan of Benelli. Have two nicer models I use for upland with nice wood stocks. Can anyone speak to the...
Figured a club or at least get in some of the public lakes in a blind. This was fun but a lot of driving. I’d like to see what all this decoy and calling stuff is about. Plus my dog loves retrieving and I’d like to get her dialed in with a more controlled environment.
I’m thinking it’s all just beginners luck. I’ve got the itch though now so next year I’ll definitely make more time for this. Never really got into it but it’s really fun. I obviously didn’t get all these on my own but at least half of them. Where I grew up in North Carolina, waterfowl hunting...
Got invited to hunt near south east of Salton tomorrow morning on a private club. Anyone been in that area lately? How was it? I’ve never been out there before and this will be my first hunt in a duck blind.
First two legit trips out were successful. I’ve always seen ducks in creeks and ponds while deer or turkey hunting. Never thought twice about it. Now I want to join a club and buy a new gun
Public land, jumping ponds and creeks in D16!
Gosh I’ve bet you’ve seen that area evolve over the years. I’m always on the lookout for cameras and stands. Unfortunately, it seems like the area is not slowing down from a pressure standpoint. On the other hand, there are always hikers, bikers and hunters in the area and I’ve had success...
Nothing wrong at all with bringing kids into nature and getting them into the lifestyle. I’m concerned the dad setup a camera 20 yards in front of mine. Kids have no weight to the situation. I’d be happy if I had seen him and his kids during season. I’d much rather watch a youngster take a shot...
I know this general area is popular. For good reason. The same reasons I hunt it. But it’s big enough for people to get their own little area and spread out. You can walk for miles in Laguna and find a stand or camera every 100 yards. No sense in making it any tighter than it already is.
About a week ago I got a guy and two young kids that found my trail cam. They walked around the area, pointed out my treestand and then poked around a little bit. This morning, my camera had some deer on it. But, it also captured the flash of another camera about 20 yards in front of my camera...
