5 days off and an RV where do I go?

Quail Valley RV park. We are headed there on the 26. Lots of NFS land all around... deer, quail, bear, river fishing, and the like. Pretty low cost for power/water/sewer hook-ups. Family owned and operated. http://www.quailvalleyrv.com/

    Wister campground closure!!

Every year for New Year, we camp at the State Park in Morro Bay. On Sat. we got an email telling us that CA recognizes the many health benefits of enjoying the outdoors. The next line of the email informed us that our reservations were canceled. Go figure.

    Checking the weather

I noticed that too, but the update date listed was a month ago so i wasnlt sure how accurate that was. And depending on where I was, sometimes it wouldn't come up at all, it showed showed --.

    Checking the weather

How do you guys check the weather forcast when you are in the backcountry and out of cell range? I see that Garmin offers a weather service, but it's only 1 text per mo with the subscription and I go out 4+ times a month during the fall. I'm hoping that you guys can drop some knowledge on me here!

    BLAZE ORANGE

This is the hat I wear. Each of my kids have there own orange hat too. Mostly of the brand of shotgun they have. For deer hunting I also cut up some of the cheap mesh orange vests and attached them to the back of their packs so they can easily be seen from behind.

    BLAZE ORANGE

I too would have thought that of all states, CA would mandate it. Then again, they probably don't mind the bad press of hunter accidents.

    Back in Black

I love labs! We thought my wife was allergic so we went in another direction only to find out that she is allergic to everything in the world except dogs! The next dog we get will certainly be another lab.

    On The Wing Podcast

FYI...Episode 87 features a SoCal hunter from Ventura. I really enjoyed this podcast and thought that Ruben had some good stuff to say. He was also recently on the Project Upland podcast. It’s nice to finally have some CA representation in this arena.

    G13!!!!

I’m an idiot... I read it as D13. Maybe that’s why I never have any luck out there!

    Steel Shot

Thanks for the info. Are you planning on shooting #6 at Quail too or moving to #5?

    Steel Shot

Anyone else having real bad luck with the steel shot? I have searched around for Bizmuth, but haven’t had any luck. Seems like a lot of solid hits don’t have the same result as in the past with lead. I’ve also looked around for 5 or 6 shot steel and haven’t been able to find any either.

    Need a scope quick.

I have the Diamondback on one of my rifles and it's the least impressive scope I have... and some where much cheaper.

I fully agree that it is for the 2 leg threats as much as it is for the 4.

I used carry a 3-5/8" Balckhawk in 45LC loaded with Buffalo Bore ammo, but my wrist's can'ty handle it anyonre. I love my Kimber, but I also like my Glocks. The Glocks are a bit little lighter and slimmer and that's what has got me thinking. Most of my hunting these days is trying to help my...

Evening all. I have been packing around my .45 for a while now while afield. Lately I’ve been kicking around getting a .357sig (Glock 32) to pack around with. Out of curiosity, would you carry .45 or .357sig while out an about in the CA wilderness?
