    Hog hunting in Paso Robles?

Anyone ever hunt (bow or rifle) for feral/wild hogs in Paso? Not asking for hunting spots, just want to know if it's worth it to drive up from Los Angeles for a long weekend in Jan/Feb to bow hunt for a hog. Thanks.

    Federal 308 150 grain copper?

Thank you for info. I think my friends suggestions are mainly to eliminate any possible issues. However, given my ethical range for a hunting shot, my skillset and the caliber/ammo type, I'm not overly concerned. But wanted the .02 cents from the hunting masses, just to confirm. Thank you.

    Federal 308 150 grain copper?

Truduct, i agree with the paper plate, but a small one. I'm trying to avoid any issues of not putting the animal down, so I try for a pretty small group, at least at 200 yds. I guess my friend is worried about the inconsistency of non-match grade ammo. But that should only make a difference...

    Federal 308 150 grain copper?

Thanks. I have a feeling i should not have a problem with the ammo, as long as its a well placed shot. I think my friend's concern is that it won't be as consistent as matchgrade, which I agree. However, any inconsistency is likely only going to be within an inch or two, at that distance, and...

    Federal 308 150 grain copper?

Anyone have issues using Federal .308, in 150 grain (copper Power Shok) for deer? I have a couple boxes left and would like to just use it up (not at the range!), but it has been suggested to pick up a matchgrade ammo (Barnes, hornady, nosler, etc.) Just for background, my ethical shooting...

    D16 AO and A22 tag

looks like this thread may have ended, however, i have a related question i have an AO tag for this year (2019). I intend to hunt other zones during archery season (Sept.). Can i use my unrestricted AO tag for late season archery in Nov-Dec, in D16???

Looking for people to tag along with

Good boots Good binos (10x42's can be had for under $200) OnX ($20 if you can find a discount code) camo, camping gear, etc., can be found used for cheap; since budget sounds like it's an issue, don't think you need all the best gear overnight. Sounds like you're younger (under 25), if...

    Walther P22 .22LR

i've never tried the max distance with the pistol. i've shot 100 yards with my 10/22 with standard velocity on steel. was impressed, but probably for practical use, i'd probably only use a 22 inside of 25 yards

    Walther P22 .22LR

I have two P22s. I had failure to feed/eject issues. I joined a Walther forum and learned about the common FTF/FTE issues on there and it was mostly related to ammo. Thus, the common mods for this pistol are: 1) CCI ammo (mini mags, stinger or velocitors); 2) Volquartsen ejector (aftermarket...

NEW TO HUNTING CALIFORNIA D13 AND SURROUNDING AREA

Trapline, did not know that about adjacent zones. Do you know where in the regs or somewhere it says that? I would literally want to print that and have it in my pocket with my license and tag just in case. Not questioning you, but I would want it in case a ranger stops me. And I'd be down...

NEW TO HUNTING CALIFORNIA D13 AND SURROUNDING AREA

not sure if this thread is still being watched. looking on OnX, D13 has very sparse BLM spots. Anyone have any luck last season out there? i hunted D14 last season, got on two bucks, but one was a little too far for my ethical shooting range and the other I could not tell if it had a fork, so...

ha ha....i was just looking at my OnX too. i just got back from north of baker. was just looking for areas really close for short day trips. plus, maybe someone else on here in SCV who likes to hunt small game. Honestly, the day trips would just be good work outs in between my regular work...
