Question about kids and hunting
My take is to keep it short and sweet at that age. Long trips are not so good unless there's allot of social interaction with other kids included with it. I agree that BB guns and tweety birds are the order of the day. Depending upon their interest level, you want to take them up to rabbits...- teachanother

I disagree. When we smoke wild turkeys at low temp, not letting the bird get hotter than 140 degree, they give Butterballs a run for their $. They're juicy and sweet! Most of my non-hunter in-laws actually reach for the smoked WT and pass on the baked store bought bird on Thanksgiving. If...- teachanother

If you want to puck your bird and have a traditional looking presentation try soaking it whole (before you gut it) for 3-8 minutes in boiling hot water (a 120 qt. cooler works good for a basin). Big Game cartridges - If you had to pick one and hunt big game what would it be?
Personally, I've never given much thought to the one gun scenario before as I wouldn't shoot a yote with a 338 and I wouldn't shoot a griz with a 243 so its hard to think in those term.
