what makes a bear a trash bear?

does anyone here hunt black bear in so cal. been really wanting to just try to stalk and a find a bear. i’ve been thinking about heading to the san bernardino mountains. i don’t necessarily want to hunt one yet but would love to at least find them. any tips or advice would be highly appreciated.

that’s what i was thinking. i didn’t want to either scare them away or worse shoot them all between me and who knows who else

so i started off the day late about 6:30. pulled up to the spot and already had 6 trucks parked and out already hunting. luckily i saw a bunch of quail in the opposite direction they were headed during deer season so went that way. missed a few shots at some dove and a small covey of quail 10-15...

Thanks for all the good info. I agree turners has been a disappointment. I’m most likely gonna be doing long hikes spot and stalking. I feel the more miles I put in the better off I will be. Im not scared of hiking.

Also not trying to spend 200 bucks on a back pack. Maybe later on down the line doing multiple day hunts
