    Labrador Disneyland

My brother and I headed North to hunt ducks. Hunted Friday through Sunday. No shortage of ducks. Took Nikita. She did really well. Snowed good starting Saturday evening through most of Sunday. John

    SJ-1/22

I hunted SJ today. I figured, no way will the sweatline be as long as Saturday. It was close. Around 60 today versus 70 on Saturday. Wind came up good by 1100am. I took my older Lab out today. Montana had a lot of fun. I imagine it will be packed Saturday. John

    SJ-1/15

I took Nikita with me and headed for SJ this morning. There were 40 plus guys on the sweatline. We drew 35. Nothing really open. Went with the refill option. A guy came in with 6 ducks from one of the Marshes. We took that Blind. The wind was howling. Ducks were flying from all directions. I got...

    3 Days of Duck Huntin'

I will likely hunt Wister next Wednesday off the sweatline. Where would you go? North End or South? They shot a 2.4 on Saturday which was better than SJ shot. John

    Ca boaters card

It takes plenty of time and it is fairly comprehensive. I have logged a lot of time at sea just on my boat and it was a good refresher. I have my card and I have seen them check at the launch Ramps. At least on the ocean. John

    be safe out there

We lose duck hunters every year in boating related incidents. Yak, canoe, Jon Boat. It don't matter. We are hunting in typically cold water and are wearing waders. You fall in off a boat in deep water and you cannot work yourself out of your waders then you are toast without a PFD. Need to wear...

    Traditional band-tailed opener 2024

They would have produced a great bunch of pups. Nikita has excellent temperament and is smart. Your lab is a well proven bird dog, and he is a good-looking boy. But, I got Nikita fixed early on. I just didn't want to deal with all the puppy drama. John

    Traditional band-tailed opener 2024

Thanks! Nikita acts like a boy. However, she is all girl. 76 pounds of it. Total Jock. She has been lots of fun. John

    SJ 12/18

That guy always brings that dog. I think it is a Frenchie. I see a lot of familiar faces on that sweatline. I like F1. Even with all that wind I figured the Walkers and Fs would have shot well. Hopefully things pick up in January. Surfed this afternoon and it was in the low 70s on the beach...

    SJ 12/18

40 plus guys on the sweatline at SJ. I was around 30 something. Got on early but not much was happening. Refilled and ended up with 4. Lots of Wind. Sounded like the Walkers were shooting. I was North in the Es. Couldn't get a slot South. 70 plus degrees. Pretty crazy. Here is a Pic of Nikita. John

    Interfering with Other People’s Hunts

I hunt Upland and deer and only on public land. I will not hunt Quail in spots that I know guys are hunting deer. I don’t care if it is public. I have had guys come right in on me when deer hunting when they were chasing Quail. I would talk to them and they were always apologetic about blowing...
