40 plus guys on the sweatline at SJ. I was around 30 something. Got on early but not much was happening. Refilled and ended up with 4. Lots of Wind. Sounded like the Walkers were shooting. I was North in the Es. Couldn't get a slot South. 70 plus degrees. Pretty crazy. Here is a Pic of Nikita.

12/18- SJWA had 139 hunters, harvested 147 birds giving us a 1.02 average with the #1 bird being the Green Winged Teal.



Kyle Guy notes, “Hello, hope this finds you all well, today we experienced warm temperatures of average 70 degrees and an east northeast 6 mph wind making for some tough conditions for our hunt day. Today we had 136 Hunters and 1 JR hunters who took 147 birds with the largest species harvested being the Green-wing Teal for an average of 1.02.

Overall, we were able to still maintain a solid 1 average for the day and hope for an increase in birds as the temperatures north begin to drop. Hope everyone is staying rested and hydrated and having a jolly holiday season.”

Most our ducks come via Salt Lake, but many come from Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and NoCal...They lost almost a 100,000 ducks to avian botulism at Tule Lake this summer/fall...I'm sure many of our (Wister & San J) ducks were included (per banding data)..............

Lake Henshaw is practically void of widgeon (#1 duck there)...Even on good years, there's only about 500-1000...When you lose that many ducks in one swoop...It surely effects our numbers down here...Hell, every widgeon that goes to Henshaw could've died...............

An outbreak of avian botulism at Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Northern California has killed more than 94,000 birds, making it the worst outbreak ever recorded at the lake:

I was #36 on the sweatline and got on in the morning, Pond 3. Refilled to F1 and came back with a fat goose egg. Saw one guy with a limit. He started off with the Y pond and refilled to one of the B ponds. Best part about, the guy was totin around a French Bulldog that looked miserable. All big ducks.

That guy always brings that dog. I think it is a Frenchie. I see a lot of familiar faces on that sweatline. I like F1. Even with all that wind I figured the Walkers and Fs would have shot well. Hopefully things pick up in January. Surfed this afternoon and it was in the low 70s on the beach. Pretty crazy.
