I ordered one from camofire. We’ll see how it goes. I like the concept of using animal psychology to produce a decoy that doesn’t simply mimic reality but produces a specific behavioral response. I hope that pans out. :D

The theory is that the turkeys will recognize the appearance of a jake but one that is extremely whimpy so even skittish jakes will think they can take him on and become more aggressive. Plenty of people online say it works but I trust our local experts more than randos on Amazon.

I’m interested in what experience you’ve had using the funky chicken decoy. I noticed the jakes I was going after yesterday seemed kind of leery of the full size jake decoy in my spread yesterday and wondered if a less threatening male decoy would be a good strategy.

I have no idea as to that last part. I get that parts of California have good hunting depending what you’re after. I just have the impression that most of the good hunting states have the same opportunities or better.

I like a little color with the exception of yellowing from residual fat. I’m not a fan of the bleached porcelain look. But a gentle whitening looks good to me.
