2nd & 3rd D16 weekend (bow, hit, lion) what would you do? + Poll

2nd weekend - 3 nights nothing, then 3x3 at 15yds but he wouldn't come out from behind a bush...no shot. 3rd weekend. In my bush blind at 4PM on Fri. at 4:05 (clock isn't on DST) a nice forkie RUNS into far end of meadow to 60yds and stops. He ran by my camera see photo below. Thought it...

    OLD ONE EYE!

Excellent looking 3x3! Love the vintage rifle. Glad yours is still accurate. My first four D16 bucks were with a WWII German 8mm Mauser. Only holds 2-3 inches at 100 so I broke down and bought a 7mm Remington Magnum. Now I comfortably hold 3-4" at 300yds and I've used that extra range many...

    D16 Tag Filled

Way to stick with it, in spite of the knuckleheads! Would love to hear how they tell the story...probably nothing about an already shot buck.

    Opening weekend report D16 public

With a bow, if it has forks, arrow is flying! Can't fill the freezer looking for a "big" on, especially in D16! Wouldn't hesitate on this one

    Opening weekend report D16 public

Hunted D16 with my AO tag and almost finished it AM of day 2. Little forkie walked by one of my cameras (see photo 1) and into the clearing that my brush blind overlooks at 7AM. He walked behind a bush at 50yds and I drew when his nose came out but he busted me, so we had a staring match at...

    D16 rifle opener......reports & questions

Little montage of 2015-2020. All 2-4 miles from roads. BPT loose 10lbs and carry lots of water for the drag out! I always drag 1-2 miles downhill to a staged game cart. Then pull that *#&ing contraption 200 steps at a time for the next 1-2 miles. I'm real particular about hanging and...

Had a conversation with a big cat while scouting last weekend.

Don't let it spook you, they range widely and don't really want human interaction. You did good. Running or panic, I believe will trigger their attack instincts. I've encountered two up close in daylight (rifle) and once had two cats screaming at me one night while archery hunting deer...

    2nd Tags

Got the D16 (meat tag) and my A22 hunting tag (maybe 3rd year "hunting" will be the charm). Heading to Idaho for bow elk/deer 1-15 Aug. Gotta get my game cameras out...just been too darn hot the last few weeks. Hoping for a cool morning this weekend!

What did you shoot your first deer with ? I shot my first deer with a.

40 years ago in Arizona, w/G'pa's 8mm Mauser he brought back from GE and sporterized. FF 30 years after a busy military stint, got back out and took a few more in SOCAL with it. Now knocking em down in D16 with Rem 7mm mag. Also hoping after 2 years with an A22 tag, my bowtech Reign will get...

Mounts for Hunt Lodge on wheels

Larry - Nice miunts!! More will come, as it's obvious you know how to get close. All under 50yds is awesome! I used the Montec G5. Flew great for me. This year switched to Exodus 125gns and they seem to fly just a tad better for me and seem indestructible. Had a buddy down a BIG bull...

    New Years Pismo Clams

Waist deep with a wetsuit on. Get beat by the waves a bit, but at low tide, that's where they are. Hear everyone on the abalone...back in the 80s them and lobsters were a dime a dozen with a set of tanks. Not sure anymore? I'm too old to lug the tanks and go through all the rigmarole to...
