Great draw at a great refuge...Believe it or not...Some of the shortest walks are in the "Free Roam" areas...You can literally walk out of 2 and hunt...It is a in walk though water, but there are small islands to hide on.
I hunted an assigned pond last season that was pretty good...The walk...

I would say the recruitment isn't as good as the last couple of years, but still very good...Like I mentioned, lots of 2 year old toms observed yesterday and during the deer season...This creates a lot of competition for hens and that makes for great hunting............. :blush:
Got up to the mountains at grey light and stopped at my 1st spot (Got permish just last year)...I hit the peacock call and boy did they go off...Obviously, I didn't put a visual on them, but there were a bunch.
Next stop is a place I don't get to hunt, but I always like to check to determine...
