    Taxidermy suggestions

Mike Berry mounted a boar for me and it came out beautiful. Then he mounted a buck for me and I am not happy. The buck was full blown rutting with a swollen neck. When I got it back from him it now has a skinny neck. The quality is good but it bums me out every time I look at it with its pencil...

    Would you still shoot him?

I have killed about 20 d-16 bucks. I am well aware of what we have here. My plan is, If I see a bigger one in this spot then I wont shoot this fork. If not I might wait until later in the season to take him. Also I actually saw him with my eyes today when I went in to check my cameras. I was...

    Shoot or pass D-16

Ive had cameras out for a while and this is the best one I have seen. I would like one a little bigger but I haven't found any yet so if I see him I might take him. He is right on the edge for me. This is also the only pic I have of him so its kind of hard to tell.

    Pig hunt for terminal friend

I have been there before. I know what its about and it would be ok but the pigs I have seen there don't look like wild pigs. They look like farm pigs.

    Pig hunt for terminal friend

A friend of mine has a bad heart and can not be operated on. Has less then a year left to live. He wants to go on a pig hunt. He wants to shoot a boar. I am looking for recommendations on a hunt with almost no hiking. Do any of you know a guide who can drive up to pigs within 300 yards? He...

Beginner bow hunt for my daughter

My daughter is a small 12 year old. She's been shooting her bow and accurate to 20 yards. She will be out to 40 within a month or 2 and she wants to go hunt something. I am thinking of taking hey to big horn canyon ranch. Do you guys know of any other places that is good for a beginner kid?

questions about bugs on deer mounts

put moth balls on them. I put moth balls on my mounts where you cant see them and it keeps the bugs off of them. Also for preserving velvet, rub Borax all over your antlers and then brush it off once they hade dried. I have only done this with fresh velvet antlers though. They show zero signs of...

    exotics in San Diego?

A buddy of mine saw a mature spotted fallow buck and 2 fallow does out by Otay around 20 years ago. He couldn't get close enough to take the buck and only saw them once. Any of you guys ever see anything odd out here before?

How long will a dead deer be edible?

I have been hunting D-16 for about 20 years now and have taken almost that many bucks here. I have lost 1 and found one 2 days later that was bloated. Both still bother me. The one I found ran like I missed it into a real thick patch of trees about 5 acres. I searched till dark and came back the...

    best $200 binos?

I agree about not buying cheap but with most gear fishing and hunting "good" or even "great" gear usualy cost a lot less then the top end gear. Example: you can spend $200 on a rod that is 90%-95% as good as a rod that cost $400. Yes there is a difference but not that much and is that little bit...
