My grandfather took me hunting and fishing as a kid. He had a family German Shepard that tagged along with us and along with his well trained Brittnay and Springer dogs. The GS never really “got” hunting any of the bird varieties but for whatever reason did occasionally ok on pheasants. GS are...
The weather has turned for sure. We got another 1-2 inches of snow early this morning along with cow elk that have been coming through our property every couple of days for the last 2 weeks. No bulls yet. Good luck on your outing.
Great post and pics. Yes, deer counts near our area down for sure. Ironically, there were 6 whitetail in our yard when we came back from dinner Wednessday night. Go figure. Better luck next time out.
Back in the day was a tri tronics user but then Garmin acquired them. Have been in the Garmin Alpha series and it is outstanding for a long time. I almost lost a dog late in the day in the winter on a snowy day in the canyons many years ago. Then I got smart and adopted GPS and other current...
Interesting. This lone wolf near LA a couple of years ago was well documented. Makes you wonder when a pack will show up and feast on the elk at Tejon Ranch.
A gray wolf was just seen near L.A., the southernmost California sighting in a century
Yah, the season is approaching but its hot and I’m not ready for those climbs yet!! Probably will wait until late Oct/November when it cools down.
6 of us just did a 3-day 200+ mile backcountry run in the SxSs and base camp was in chukar central. Kept looking up at the exact routes on those...
Wow! Great shooting and setup. My 280 AI is shooting well but nothing like that! Looks like you are on target to reach out quite a bit further at some point. Keep us posted.
Completely agree with your comments about shot placement. Long before the elk hunt this last season, was curious to see how a copper bullet might work. Liked the penetration and expansion aspects experienced by many with copper and experimented with a few different loads in the off season...
Nice pics and great looking spot. Just a heads up. Make sure in your cell game cam to disable your gps location. It seems to be embedded in the advanced settings of your pic files.
That's a phenomenal photo! I've only visually encountered 1 wolf outside of the park (not anywhere near the park). Funny thing is the wolf was quite a bit bigger than any in the wolf pack we watched in Lamar Valley. Thanks for sharing.
Great that you are getting into hunting. It is a very rewarding hobby/sport that offers tasty meals. I agree with the Moderator and would start out with the 270. More comfortable to shoot than the ’06 so most are more inclined to get more bench time.
For most, firearms are akin to tattoos, not...
