    Wet Stinky Turkeys

Man opener was wet. New to hunting and still getting gear for different conditions. Only camo I had was "water resistant" and rated for 45 degrees. It was a wet and cold Saturday to say the least. 10/10 would do again. Just hoping to even see a turkey next time :)

    Turkey scouting 3/3/24

I made a not so wise decision to do some scouting in CNF Sunday morning. Wasn't prepared for the winds/rain/fog. Saw some turkeys flocked up could only make out one male(on account of the fog, easily possible there was more) but it was about 10-12 turkeys total. Is this a normal flock size? I...

    NWTF Spring Turkey Tune-Up....2024

Same here, do you know where we could refund our losing raffle tickets? Jokes aside from the amount of tickets in some of the bucket seems like a lot got raised for Jake's

    Saltwater Fishing Gear!

@HortoTheSlayer After carful consideration and research regarding you comment, two reels have been removed. I think two of the rods would do good for sturgeon fishing as well, but moving an 8'6 rod becomes the challenge, so leaving those up if they don't sell will probably figure out a way to...

    Saltwater Fishing Gear!

Hold up. I was researching fishing in Minnesota and didn't see anything about sturgeon fishing and how big it is there. Everything was about walleye, pike and ice fishing. May need to update this post...

First Deer and First Ducks (Central Texas) 11/10-11/12

This is a nice perspective too. I'm not opposed to either. Maybe in a bit when I'm ready to seriously look into getting a dog I might go this route. The dog and I can figure out this hunting business together. Just concerned I would mess up the training, maybe starting out getting one that's...

First Deer and First Ducks (Central Texas) 11/10-11/12

Yeah this is in line with what I heard, there were a few dogs at the camp and everyone said the cheapest part was buying the dog.

Okay so same general landscape and terrain. It's really nice out there I enjoyed watching a thunderstorm roll in from God knows how far away.

First Deer and First Ducks (Central Texas) 11/10-11/12

I dont think blind hunting for deer is my jam, I had fun and would do it again but want to try a more active pursuit of deer. Duck hunting from a blind...yes very much hooked. How much is a trained retriever...asking for a friend :sob:

Thanks, to be honest I think the buck is okay. I'm happy with it though and the smaller stature of it made learning how to skin it and break it down a bit easier :)

I think Brady was the largest/closest town, but I would use close very loosely. We passed through some others on the way but Brady is the only one I remember. Not to familiar with the area, first time there.

Also a side note, the Pelican Vault v700 series may be TSA approved but it IS NOT airline safe. They cracked my case so badly that it was deemed not in good enough condition to use for the flight back. So I had to pick up another case in TX. They cut me a check for the case but still need to...

First Deer and First Ducks (Central Texas) 11/10-11/12

Went out to my brother in law's lease in central Texas for 3 days of hunting. There was 5 of us total in the camp, we ended the trip together with 3 Whitetail bucks 1 Black Buck and ~30 ducks (Only 3 of us went after deer). My priority was to get my first deer and absorb as much knowledge from...

Hey, I know this thread is a bit old. But if you haven't found someone to take you, I'm down to figure it out with you. I've never been turkey hunting but looking to take a stab at it this fall. Planning on starting scouting next month.
