    Hammer Reloading

I've been re-thinking the Hammers a bit. I will say, they are accurate for sure. My 308 load is 46.2 grains of Varget pushing a 124 HH at 2999 f/s. I'm getting 1/4" groups with it. I hit a large Blacktail with one two years ago at 60 yards. Perfect broadside double-lung shot. Ran 60 yards...

Interesting chat with Steve from HAMMER bullets

John (NBK) talked me into trying 124 grain Hammer Hunters a couple of years ago. I worked up a load with my 308 using 46.2 grains of Varget. I got a speed of 2996 f/s out of that and a 5-shot group measuring 1/4" at 100 yards. I went to Northern Kali two years ago and got a perfect broadside...

    Shotgun stand help

I have a US Hunter clip-on shotgun stand I got years ago. I need to find some more, but I can't find anyone that has them. Any help on a supplier? Thanks

    Best electronic predator call?

I have used a Foxpro for many years. In fact, I have two of them. Both are pretty much entry level because nobody has convinced me you need all the new bells and whistles that the new ones have. Foxpro's are good because ALL the sounds are recorded from actual animals. A friend just asked me for...

    New muzzle loader

Sounds like you've already jumped, but I'll throw in anyway. Check the regs for where you want to hunt. Some states do not allow in-lines. Some states do not allow scopes. Some states do not allow sabots. It can get tricky figuring it all out.

    Anyone do a European Mount?

Mike Berry. Here's a Euro he just did for me and a bobcat he did a few years ago. He does GREAT work! .

Four of us (Don, Dan, John and me, Jerry) met at the Coffee Creek Campground just north of Trinity Center (west of Redding) on Thursday, September 15th to set up camp. "Camp" was comprised of a 12 x 14' Outfitter's tent and all the necessary other "stuff" for a nice comfortable stay. As wet...

    Long range muzzleloaders

No problem with BH209. The only things banned are scopes and lead bullets.

    Fear the Hammer

I just returned from the B2 zone where I scored on a huge 3x2. It was a broadside 60-yard shot, mid-chest, right behind the shoulder. The load was a 308 Winchester with a 124-grain HH pushed with 46.2 grain of Varget to 2,996 f/s. It was zeroed at 210 yards and gives 1/4" groups. The 210 zero...

I am now back in town. I will PM you with my info. TC doesn't make Hawken's any more, but there are used ones out there.

    Looking into Muzzleloader seasons

It's the Escondido Fish & Game Association range up by Lake Wohlford. They are working on the road right now and it's a PITA to get to. I will get back to you in a week or two once the road work has cleared up. What days are best for you to meet? The weekends are pretty busy, but we can do that...

    Looking into Muzzleloader seasons

I knew He's chime in. I thought of a few more things. If you are wanting a "hunting rifle", probably the best bet would be to go for a Hawken with a 1:28" twist. The longer Kentucky or Pennsylvania types are usually a 1:60 or 1:66 twist, which only shoot PRB's. You can use PRB's here in Kali...

    Long range muzzleloaders

Kali is a "NO" for hunting with a scope.

    Looking into Muzzleloader seasons

"Open sights" and "Long range" don't really go well together. First of all, start with where you want to hunt. Are in-lines allowed? If not, that cuts you down to a traditional percussion style, which isn't bad. For info, I have both. My in-line is a Thompson Center Omega and has a Williams peep...
