I have a couple 308s. For long range steel targets I like 178gr eldms over varget. For hunting out of state 165gr accubonds factory rounds. In state I like 130 gr ttsx at 3k fps from varget.
My dad and I both shoot 308. Our standard for years has been the 168 grain TTSX. We use Varget and are getting 2555 out of the muzzle. For some reason he has started working up a load of 130 grain bullets.
i dont have a .308 but i have a buddy who only shoots .308 and he was shooting 168 ttsx and for the last year switched to 130 tsx for all critters. the only critter he has yet to shoot with the 130 is elk only cause he didnt elk hunt this \year
The .308 cartridge is a do all killer. It shoots light and heavy bullets quite well. The lighter bullets on elk need to be well placed at reasonable distances. Get er done!

Funny you say that, pops left the good stuff at home so he ran the cheapie federal 180 powershock. Put the buck on his ass right where he stood. So far so good!
