hey all. i am thinking of going duck hunting again in the nest week or so on a weekday. Any one know how wister or san J has been lately? can you walk on during the week or do i still need res? im also thinking of just going with neil ray if i can get something set up in the next 5-7 days. I have no experience hunting ducks on places like wister and san J just private ponds up north. hell we never even used decoys they just used the ponds and we waited.

Considering the weather conditions yesterday. The shooting was just OK for us in one of the top blinds......Had to finish off the limit at a friends duck club. And even then it was all spoonies and teal.

Of by the way, if your going to hunt ducks. Try hiding a little bit......These guys were right in front of us...... ::)

yea hiding always works best for ... welll.... everything ive hunted. they seam a little exposed. thanks for the update Sprig. do you think i can walk on on a weekday?

There were 66 sweatliners on Saturday and 33 yesterday......I was next to last in yesterdays line and still had plenty of spots to choose from.

Anytime the birds from SLC would like to show up, it would be nice.............. ;D

ps...............A little exposed?.................

;D your right, ive seen dove hunters sitting in the middle of the field with shorts and white t-shirts playing with there dog. even when im dove hunting i park the truck behind as much cover as i can find and get as far in a bush or close to a tree or power poll or something.

Ooh Steve...

I had the best question asked to me yesterday as I was walking back to the parking lot.... "uumm how many shovelers can be hens?"... I was soo dumbfounded... lol

Based on the advice of long time hunter, SCH moderator, and all around good guy "ilovesprig" Steve, my hunting son-in law and I did the best we had done all year. Both of us limited out.
1 Spoonie,
3 Wideon
4 Green wing teal
5 Gadwall
1 Pintail.
Very exciting day.
Thanks Steve
Mark

Outstanding Mark...........Glad you both had a good experience at Wister Duck & Goose Club......... ;D

If or when I draw I call Steve and ask if he wants to go.......If he can't go my next question is what blind should I pick...very helpful.

Steve where do I go tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was always funny to see you post those pictures Steve. Key word WAS. In my short time hunting the W, I have never witnessed it with the Naked Eye. What a pain. Was a tough day, but happy that the 14th bird finally fell and got to walk away from them and the others. P.S. How could they tell it was a Hen Shoveler from the Distance that they shot it at? lol

Few more pix of Wister on Tuesday........Wish they made full body spoonies.........lol

Also, the ducks are finding the new fishing reservoir on the unit......Nice closed zone on the area.

Lot more snows have showed up as well. Appeared to be about 7500 in the closed zone. The guys that know what their doing are doing well.
