I have a list of everything I may need for a trouble free, hunting, camping, fishing trip. You name it, i's on my list. Not everything on the list goes on every trip, that is decided by the trip I am going on. On the Other hand one of my fair weather hunting/fishing friends has jack sh&t, which is always what he brings. He's always telling everyone , John is a list guy. What he fails to mention is he is always coming over to me and asking for something he should have. I always tell him a bought enough for me with very little to spare. On one deer hunting trip, he showed up with , rifle, four rounds of ammo, a box of crackers, a small brick of cheese, and not good cheese at that, and a bottle of scotch, Not one log for the camp fire. In all fairness, what ever outdoors activities he's involved in is more of a social occasion rather than the actual planed trips be it hunting or what ever. The last thing I do before I start the truck is, go over the list.

Sounds more like being annoyed by your partner. You should send him a copy of your list ahead of time to alleviate the frustration (or make it worse??). My dad did that for me until I caught on he was teaching me how to be prepared. haha

For me, local one or two day hunts I do not create a list. If I am traveling, a list is a must.

Sounds like you need better hunting buddies! Let me know when you are accepting applications. Haha

I have done a few hunts with people who would rather talk and play on their phone than enjoy sitting in nature. I went on a hog hunt and me and my cousin both got hogs. The other 4 guys never even saw one but they were talking and playing on their phones the whole time. Thats what happens when you dont shut the hell up and pay attention. If you cant hear a mouse fart you are being too loud!

Definitely a list guy. Whether I’m backpack hunting or truck camping with the family I have a list to check shit off of when it gets packed.

I'm not a traditional list guy... I'm a don't forget list guy. I write items down as they come to mind and check them off before I leave... for every trip. Here's my list from last year's Alaska hunt. Ed F

I use an app called "Listonic". We share a shopping list with the entire family (both iPhones and Android phones in the house) that we can all update as needed. When anyone is in a store, they just open the app and check things off as they are put in the basket (everyone's list is automatically updated). I then also create lists for Home Depot and other places. I also have my fishing and hunting lists saved on it but those aren't shared across the family phones. No more calling from the store or getting called while in the store. Now it's "if you wanted it, you should have put it on the list"

I'm definitely a list guy. I use Samsung Notes in my stupid phone. Easy to share and easy to copy/paste into it, including pictures.

I am a list guy on trips lasting more than tree days. As a matter of fact I have a notepad with lists of gear and food. I even plan the daily meals.

There are websites out there that can help with backpack hunting weights and lists. I started using lighterpack just to share stuff with hunting buddies so we’re not carrying a bunch of the same shit. Enter all your items and weights and then you can share that with them. Might be over kill for some but it’s helped me out in the past.
