My bro in law went hunting in the beautiful state of Texas and harvested a nice fallow doe. Here are some pictures of it and the skull I just did.

Hard to say with certainty from one photo but that looks like an axis doe to me. That cinnamon color with the dark stripe on the back is very recognizable. Fallow and axis get mistaken for each other every year in Texas though. I go every year but I could be wrong. They’re a lot easier to identify on their feet.

Excellent eating animal. closest thing to elk you can get in North America. Axis burger is very good, take the prime cuts and a few roasts and grind the rest!
