Bishers Quality Meats (wild game processing)

hey everyone, I'm new here but figured if let ya know that after a long search I found a legit butcher here in SD. Bishers meats in Ramona ( not Poway) is a great butcher shop and they do wild game processing. I talked to the owner about it, he just asks that you bring it to him fresh and as clean as possible. I'm excited to bring a deer to him. They also sell wild game there if you wanna have a friend try it. Please check them out if interested, just passing along some info.

Super expensive..... buy a grinder and do it yourself! I feel you chose to pay, I think there is a place in Escondido or San Marcos that'll do it for a dollar a pound if I remember correctly, which is a good price.

From my own experience, and after trying several butchers in this area, Bishers in Ramona would be at the bottom of my list. Like the above post says...you'de be better off taking your deer to San Marcos or Escondido. Used to be a guy in Lakeside that was AWESOME but I believe he sold everything to a guy off Harbison Canyon...I heard he was good as well.

I use Specialty Meats in Escondido.....Bob & Artie are great guys, hunter friendly, and they take deer on Sundays.....A little over a 100 bucks for any deer......Burger & steaks.

Used to use T&H in San Marcos but Jacob sold out awhile back not sure what going on there now,he was expensive to begin with but did great sausage. Do it myself now

I've got a guy in Ramona DON $100. Sundays late night. Burgers steaks chorizo , what ever you want.plus you get all the meat, from your animal. Very honest

If you want to save money but don't want to do the processing yourself, bone it before you hand it off. They charge a lot for boning. I don't understand why; I had one of them tell me that boning is "like surgery", and that's why it's so expensive. After I stopped laughing, I told him I'll bone it myself in the future.

I'll second the Specialty Meats suggestion. I've had an elk and many FFA animals done there. They also vacuum seal everything free which is a huge up charge at most places. I do most of the work with the deer but still bring them a big bag to grind into bulk Italian sausage. It makes great spaghetti, and lasagna or mixed with ground beef in meatloaf. They charge 99 cents a pound for that and is well worth the time it would take me too grind and package. Not to mention the seasoning and bag expense.

Do it yourself. You learn more about the anatomy of the animal, feel good about the process and actually get your deer back: not mixed parts of other deer as some butchers distribute (I'm not saying that they practice this. It is not uncommon though.)
I just got a brand new vacuum sealer. It's even camo which is ridiculous but I'll use it.

I pay 40 bucks in corona and my butcher would rather you bring it in boned out. Lol
