Flew in last night and have been scouting today and tonight. This will be a short trip this year (3 day hunt) but hey we are here for a good time not a long time.

We will be hunting in the morning. Found a few fields this morning. Nothing spectacular but we have this afternoon to scout as well. Stay tuned.

Wow!......That is green for this time of year......I guess that's what 15" of rain in Sept will do...... :-[

John,

Good luck tomorrow......I'll be up in a few days....... ;)

There are still a lot of crops on the ground Steve. All the water set back the harvest this year. They are just starting to pick up the canola and the wheat/barley.

We founds some good fields this evening so hoping tomorrow's shoot is a good one.

Below is our sunset tonight

Well - the first morning is in the books. We had an amazing shoot with limits by 8:30 AM. We ended up with 18 Greater Canadas and 6 Specklebelly's. The spec's were weary as usual but the honkers came in on a string. Good times for sure.

Will be scouting later in the day so I will check in then.

Great going John.....Love those big darks and specks are the best..... ;)

Leaving tomorrow morning will be Alberta Monday night....PUMPED!

This morning was a great day even though the weather did not cooperate. It rained most of last night and we had fog all morning. Not a great combo for waterfowl hunting. We had a short morning anyway as we needed to be at church by 11:30 AM.

The local 100+ year old Ukrainian church and service was awesome. Being part of a different culture is what makes travel all the more fun and worthwhile. After church we had an amazing pot luck and I had a great conversation with the priest (father Don) regarding guns and hunting. It turns out the priest is a big fan of firearms and hunting. He was a very cool guy.

Tomorrow we have our last hunt but it looks like rain is coming again tonight so we will make the best of it. Hopefully we find a stable field filled with birds for the shoot. This was a short trip due to conflicting schedules for all of us but one I wouldn't miss regardless.

Sitting in a pea field waiting for the geese to come! Anticipated excitement.
