Made it out today to finally check some cameras. Ran up the mountain around 7pm and made it back out by dark. Getting some steady pictures of doe and a little itty bitty baby buck showed himself last Thursday. Hopefully some bigger models show up in the near future.
Also hoping for a little advice. I bought a Boneview iPhone SD card reader. Went up the mountain excited I didn’t have to carry a laptop and sure enough it wouldn’t work. After looking up things on how to fix it seems to have pretty terrible reviews. Any iPhone SD card readers anyone can suggest?

Rob,

I got an iPhone SD adapter for my birthday back in March....Lasted about 3 times....Piece of junk.

I use my Canon camera's to look at pix....Then load them onto the laptop when I get home.

Thanks Sprig! Loved the Podcast you did with Brandon the other day. And with the research I’ve done it sounds like they are all junk. The Boneview and the Stealth cam ones both sound horrible. Seems like I may have to go the camera laptop

I use to use a cheap small tablet.
I used an adapter to insert and read sdcards with micro USB.
It must have hardware and software installed to do that. Some come with it. So do some of the Galaxy Samsung phones..
You have to order it online.

While Im currently using a camera, I love the tablet idea. That way you can download the pics straight to the tablet, wipe the card after downloading, and re-use it again on the spot. As a matter of fact I have a tablet that I never use, but I will now.

Must be an iPhone thing. I have multiple readers card readers for My Galaxy S7 and they work great. Always have one in my bino pack. Lets me take a quick look in the field...….BUT

Pro Tip....ALWAYS, ALWAYS go through the pics on the pc/tablet aside from your phone as you will miss deer looking at them on your phone. I know I have on many occasions. Hard to resist not taking a peep in the field though...:)

If you have patience, just switch out the SD card, put new batteries, bring home the cards then take your time looking at on a lap top or desk top.
But what nice about the tablet is no if you get no pics of deer move it.
I like to carry spare SD cards and batteries..

In the past I generally carry extra cards. Was just hoping to check and adjust cameras in the field with the mobile card reader

For sure! I just sent back the Boneview and ordered 2 additional readers on Amazon. They are cheap and with free returns it’s worth a try.

Had anyone tried registax? I think thats the name. I want to use it with my cams. It will basically take all of your camera images and stack them. I have used it for astronomy pics where i am taking thousands of images of the same object, but not on one of these yet. I think it would make sorting through thousands of images easier on the windy days.

Ihave use on astronomy pictures.
But it was more for combining pics to get the best image. It came with a camera I purchased years ago for astronomy.

I also use a canon camera to look at pics in the field. If there is something nice on the sd card I swap it out with another card so I can download original card on computer. It’s nice to be able to see pics in the field so you can move camera if not much activity

I figured I would give it one last go. I ordered 2 more iPhone SD card readers. They both should be here today. As soon as I make it out to check some cams I’ll report back on how they worked out
