Well we headed over to CO last weekend for our first 3rd season tags. Myself, my 18yo, and @JakeSCH all had tags.

The orange army was insane and inescapable. We knocked it out 1 day at a time opening morning JR gave this 4x3 the business. Neck shot 200yds bam flop. This one is hard on me he leaves for ministry school in Hawaii this January the off to college next fall. This was likely the last bumming hunt we will have together for a while. Damn it went fast.

Day 2 I was on deck. I passed a few bucks in the morning and decided to try a new area 15 miles west of where we were hunting. Saw a few small bucks and right before last light my kid says good buck right infront of us. I never got eyes on the buck but the stalk was on. I take off and about 500 yds in I see the body of the buck drop into a ditch 200 yds to my left. I work my way up to the ditch all I see is a big G2 20 yds to my right I pull up the 30-06 offhand and kapow dead buck. I should have brought my bow.

Day 3 we sleep in because @JakeSCH still hasn't made it to CO yet something about having a job and work. Well he shows up at noon and I take him to the spot where we shot my kids buck and I saw that bucks twin. About an hour before last light I find the buck about a mile away. We run down the hill jump in the truck @HATCHET1 you would have been proud. We drive up the hill jump out hike about 100yds to some rim rock glass over and there the buck is 300yds away broadside. Jake gave him a warning shot with the first one but the dummy didn't bounce shot 2 hit the mark and the deer died in his tracks. Jake was in CO a grand total of 4 hours and his tag was filled The Tricer small buck guide service gets things done quick.

All in all it was a great hunt. The orange army was not my thing at all. I wouldn't hunt that unit again just because it's not conducive to my style of hunting or what I am looking for in a hunt. If I do 3rd season again I will definitely put more time
I to researching units with roadless areas etc. But in the end it was a great hunt with my kid and a good friend.

This entire hunt including all 3 kill shots will be on the Tricer YouTube in the next few months.

Awesome trip... I've heard 3rd season can be a zoo. I just wrapped up a 4th season deer hunt and had two hunters blow a mile plus stalk and another two guys start glassing 10 yards from me. There were less than 20 tags for the unit.
We need to go with 180ls1 guide service.
He's got the big bucks dialed.
