D13

You do not have to specify of what means of take you're using. There are archery only tags such as AO & A-22. Then there's the archery portion/dates of D-16.....They even have a muzzle loader tag....M-6.

The AO (archery only) tag is good in any A, B, or D zone.

Here's a pretty good article about D-13.....

ps.....Used San Diego Co. hunts because I'm most familiar with it.

When purchasing a tag, do I have to specify if I'm bow hunting? Or is my standard D13 tag ok as long as I abide by the appropriate archery dates?

D-13's proposed dates have an early archery only season between Sept 3 thru Sept 25. The general season dates are Oct 8 thru Nov 6 and you can use bow or rifle.
