What is a good deer population for deer in a sq. mile. And Difference in population between So. Cal. central Cal and No. Cal. I hunt deer in No. West Wis. and they consider 25/mile a good number, although on an average I think it is mort than 30. Central Wis. has the biggest density per. sq. mile.

I hunted deer in Wisconsin a few years back when the deer population went way over desired per Sq. mile population, so they had a program call "earn a buck". In order to get a buck tag you first had to harvest a doe. Another year the y had a "T" hunt, doe only, I thought it should have been called "D" but that's the DNR for ya. That year four out of our group of six filled their tag, well, five if you were to count the one my nephew got with his GMC pickup. It had a broken neck, so my nephew put it out of it's misery. Larry should have been there. I take it Cal. has so few deer compared to other states deer population per Sq. mile is not a issue so the state does not keep that close a track of those numbers.

I’d also like to know what our national parks are holding compared to national forest lands.
