I don’t know about you guys but Meateater seems to have sold out. What made this show for me was the epic adventures. This season seems to be going the same way as season nine. Canned hunts, country stars etc. I am not impressed.

Haven’t watched it yet but I wouldn’t be surprised. The podcast has also gone downhill in my opinion. Still some good episodes here and there but not what it used to be. I think they got super popular and are in it for the money now. Guess I really can’t blame them

I selected "No" but honestly the answer is probably Yes. I think he successfully grew his meateater brand / company to a big enough size that he gets invites everywhere. It is tough to turn down invites to prime locations to hunt an OTC tag.

The celebs is to reach across the isle, get more watching the show. I bet >30% of our new So Cal hunters got into it from watching his show.

Enjoy Steve and his approach when he came on the scene way back when and his use of off beat cut's (organs) Good stuff IMO. ( now check out " farming the wild" my favorite farm to table show lately) Steve practiced good ethics to take in what he was learning and applied it to the whole animal. Best thing I like about Farming the wild is the dedication to harvesting the organs off of his kills and using them as well as his European approach to cookery as well as using the animal in ways I had never considered.

I also have never watched the show hence didn't vote don't watch any hunting shows as I don't know of any that are not caned hunts or just set ups for ratings.

Try watching Randy Newberg. Thats as close as real hunts as I could find. It is almost impossible to find a show where animals don't get killed. Randy shows it like it is. Many times they walk out just like us. Empty handed.

I voted no. I feel like they have always done a mix of "canned" hunts and "DIY" hunts. I think if you're traveling that much for content, you have to use guides at least some of the time. But that's just me. Plus I really like Luke Combs.

I voted no due to the addition of Clay Newcomb. He gives it to Steve all the time and I love it! Perhaps w/out his addition I would have voted the other way.

I voted no as well.....I enjoy his hunts guided or not....His cooking and preparing skills are always impressive to me.... :yum

ps....His turkey hunts are a little dramatic, but that's Hollywood....

Check out Borned and Raised " Land of the free" first season on YouTube. They are hunters out of Oregon who travel to 5 states to hunt elk on public land. Great show and they take you through the entire hunt. Pretty good dudes.

I like Randy Newberg as well.. anyone ever heard of Jason Matzinger? I enjoy his hunts and he does an incredible narration on his videos

didn't a whole hunting party get trichinosis from under cooked Bear ?

IMO, I think the show has “sold out” to present itself towards more people, showing the celebs etc. I believe Steve truly enjoys hunting with these newer type hunters on hunts that available and easier for them. I think he would still prefer to be out by himself remote but he is also thinking of promoting “hunters” if that makes sense

God Yes is there anything better than having the steam from a hot cup of coffee rolling up your face up in you nose. The dew around you starts to freeze and crackle, tiny rainbows start jumping out as the sun peaks over the rise. Toms fly down from their roosts gobbling for their hens to come to Daddy.
Then the ground comes alive CHi-caa-go, Chi-caa-go quail calling round up for their covey. Now the sun finally starts to warm you your Binos glued to your eyes running a grid over on the west slopes.
Yes you are a hunter in the wilderness, what better life could there be!
