Drinking the Creed Koolaid

.223 is a just a .22 on steroids.

The .223 was chosen by the military because they didn't want to kill the other soldiers they wanted to wound them. By wounding one soldier it pulls an additional solider out of battle to tend to them, effectively taking 2 soldiers out of battle for each 1 soldier shot. True story.
Nothing wrong with running a brake on a coyote gun. You will want to have electronic hearing protection on when you shoot and to be honest you should be wearing it brake or no brake.

i do not use a brake on my primary coyote gun. its only a lil 6mm in a ar15 so no reason.

only mod i would do with this gun would be the trigger. The rest of the parts would not be cost effective in a chassis.

i am not a fan of Timney triggers but its low cost and will work much better than stock. i would expect 1.5" groups off the bench. shoot slow with that thin tube. its going to get hot quick and wander all over the place. if you can not hold your hand on it, its way TO HOT!

Checking out this trigger, any other trigger companies out there to look at? This seems to be the one everyone is using.

I got my 16 year old daughters a 6.5 creedmore... just sayin'. The boys at school think they are cool. So far that gun has missed two deer and a mountain lion. Thinkin' about putting a muzzle brake on it... just to piss Larry off. Ed F

Ed the boys have Ruger Americans I put clamp on brakes on them from Witt Machine I think like $80-$100 and it made a world of difference when it comes to recoil which dramatically increased their accuracy. They work great and no gun smith required. The noise sucks so they wear plugs and muffs at the indoor range. In the field we just all have the plastic plug bands around our neck and when we shoot at an animal we pop them in real quick.

Just an FYI... those Rad-Band style plugs... the headband part is EASY to break, so be careful of that. Also I had issues with the foam plug inadvertantly getting pulled-off the end of the headband, often, at random times.

I think we all can clearly see where that muzzle *should* go.
(C'Mon Ed, ya set me up too easy with that one!) ;)

So I finally got my blank canvas in, and an impulse buy. I did the DROS on new years eve before the fees went up. I asked the guy if I could add a second gun to the same background check or if I would have to pay two fees and he said as long as I DROS it at the same time only one fee so I added an ATI 12 gauge pump, they had it still on sale from the holidays so only $120 for a shotgun. I think I am going to make it a short tactical gun for a scabbard on my scouting pack when checking cams or walking around aimlessly.

Working on the glass now, putting my feelers out for a Leupold VX-3i. Have not decided on the spec yet, will see what presents itself on the used market or auctions. Hopefully one will hit craigs list to grind on.

If you're planning on doing a custom camo paint job, when you get a chance, go to Halloween Club where Valley View goes over the 5Fwy and get you some of that elastic-y camo netting they sell there. It looks bitchin' when you stretch it over your rifle and spray your darker colored stripes thru it when doing a camo job. Kinda has this snake-like or maybe tree-bark pattern to it that has total randomness to it. With FDE type colors it matches real well to that desert colored mesh Ghillie suit of mine I was wearing when we got that last 'yote out there.

I am going to drop the Ruger in a FDE chassis, eventually, working on geting some glass so I can start shooting it. Wanting to do a Feb or Mar hog hunt in central cal to put it into service.

Finally picking up a scope tomorrow, found a deal I could not pass. Cant wait to get this out and put some rounds down range, just need to find some 1” FDE rings and a fde bipod. Are the rail mounted bipods more stable than the swivel stud mounted? Not sure yet the best way to get a rail mounted.

Just got back, Got the Vortex Copperhead 4-12x44mm from Turners. $129 from $209 w/Discount club, got the last one from the Lake Forest store. They guy was saying they were out, even the display was gone, but I spotted one behind the counter on the shelf and was like I’ll take that one. Wanted a Leupold vx3i but there seemed to be a lot of knock offs floating around that they wont honor the warranty on when you call with the serial number. Either knock offs or grey market.

Need to find an outdoor range to see what it can do. Any Suggestions?

BTW Next time try checking out www.OpticsPlanet.com

The Copperhead is their bottom most model. I've got 4 of their Crossfire II's which are the next step up. Have 2-7x32mm on .223 Rem bolt gun and my boys CZ 452 .22LR, and 3-9x40mm on my .17 HMR, and 3-9x50mm on my AR15

BTW, I'd recommend getting a DNZ Game Reaper scope mount. https://www.dnzproducts.com/game-reaper/

They are a 1-piece mount. And they are tough! The slip and fall I had crossing a creek at 32 deg F with my .30-30 in my hands which shattered my wrist... and bent the lip of the objective end of that Weaver 1-3x20mm... ?? Did NOT change it's ZERO!

I shoot 260 Rem because I am a gentleman but whatever floats your boat.
So if the 260 makes you a gentleman. What would the be the difference of the 6.5x284 or the 6.5 creed ? Asking for a friend. :cash-gif-emoji:
You ever hear of, or play with a 260 terminator? Apparently they can hit 3k with 140’s?

I looked at that cartridge as well as the 260 AI both really cool cartridges. Only reason I didn’t was I didn’t want to deal with fire forming the brass.
I have RL26 pushing the 124HH 2915 avg in my 260. I could get the a lot higher velocity but the node falls where I have it. That RL26 is pretty awesome stuff.
