I have been wanting this caliber for awhile, reading tons of reviews and rifle comparisons and finally went with the Ruger Predator in 6.5 creed. Every rifle I looked at had good reviews but the shear number of reviews on this rifle along with all the comparison reviews made it seem like a solid choice. The only thing that all the reviews seemed to find negative was the rotary mag it comes with. I found that they make a model that accepts AI magazines instead of the rotary but took some hunting to locate one, which I had no luck finding at first. I was at Turners yesterday and had them check if they could find one and was able to locate one and I put it on order. They had a model that comes with a vortex scope for a pretty good discount buying as a combo but on the optics side seemed like Leupold was like the rifle with just the number of reviews it received, not that the other brands had bad reviews. This should be a fun first build. I think I will start looking into some upgrades for it that will carry into the chassis system later like trigger, muzzle brake, optics, bipod. I am new to chassis systems so not all sure yet what mfgs to look at and whats going to be involved part wise.

I am about three weeks out for delivery, and then another 10 days but hopefully will be able to get it out on the range by mid January. There is nothing but indoor ranges around me, any good gun ranges around for sighting in or better to head to the BLM shooting areas to sight in and practice distance?

Why a muzzle break on a hunting rifle that's not a Gargantuan cartridge? My figuring on that (from hunting my close quarters spot) is that it's very likely you may need to take a shot without having the opportunity to put on hearing protection first. And muzzle breaks make'em much louder to the shooter's ear. $.02

I was reading it helps to hold you sight on target after the shot also and wont get the big jumps in the reticle. Don't know if it really works. This is going to be a grassy knoll gun to get up high and just sit.

Nothing wrong with running a brake on a coyote gun. You will want to have electronic hearing protection on when you shoot and to be honest you should be wearing it brake or no brake.

i do not use a brake on my primary coyote gun. its only a lil 6mm in a ar15 so no reason.

only mod i would do with this gun would be the trigger. The rest of the parts would not be cost effective in a chassis.

i am not a fan of Timney triggers but its low cost and will work much better than stock. i would expect 1.5" groups off the bench. shoot slow with that thin tube. its going to get hot quick and wander all over the place. if you can not hold your hand on it, its way TO HOT!

Watched a Ruger American 6.5 creed stone a buck a few weeks ago. I own 4 Ruger Americans they shoot great especially with hand loads. 6.5 Creed is a great round for deer out to 5-600 yards for elk keep it under 300 yards. If you are shooting long range try the Hornady 143g ELDX you will be able to ring the 1k gong. I shoot 260 Rem because I am a gentleman but whatever floats your boat.

So if the 260 makes you a gentleman. What would the be the difference of the 6.5x284 or the 6.5 creed ? Asking for a friend. :cash-gif-emoji:

Don’t get your Creedmoor man bun all in a bunch.
In all seriousness I really want some RL26 for my new 260 and freaking Creedmoor has gobbled it all up. Creedmoor is the hottest cartridge out there right now for sure. Essentially it’s a 260 with a smidge less powder I have no idea how the Creedmoor took off and 260 Rem didn’t. Essentially the same cartridge but 260 has been around longer. I like 6.5s

My hair is to short to have a saddle handle.

Soo.. What you’re trying to say is, the Creed is more efficienT than the 260.

Hornady spent a ton of $$$ advertising to get people to fall in love with it at the right time
