Looking to the pros to get feedback on what you use (if any) for hearing protection in the blind. It’s not easy to hear my calls and hear the marsh sounds unless I use electronic plugs...thoughts?

pro ears predator gold ear muffs been running them for a few seasons now and i cant hunt with out them anymore. i just wish i had started 30 years ago i might have more hearing left. they function well in wind and only cut gun blasts out.
takes a week or two to get used to them but zero headache after a day of shooting and being able to hear hear wind on wings is pretty cool. You will think that a T rex is sneaking up behind you only to see a mouse. The amplification takes a bit to get used to at full volume. A side benefit is my mostly def father who used to yell way to much can now hear soft sounds and talks in quite tones when wearing them!
The tech is moving at a rapid pace right now, i can say the pro ears are great muffs and they have taken a ton of abuse including 40mph get offs into the water off the airboat. There are a lot of cool offerings coming out with the in the ear offerings and they are coming down in price every day.

Walker Game Ears Razor are good for around $55 or so. I hear everything. Long before my friends will without them. Ducks flying in, whistling, all of it. Just have to get used to wearing them and getting your gun properly positioned when you go to shoot. Everyone should be using ear protection that will allow you to still hear your friends and protect your hearing. Always keep an extra set of batteries with you.

I have been using the Howard Leight sport and like it... the amplification is nice...even though it’s the smaller sized, it’s still a bit bulky and limits hat choices...

I don’t use anything while hunting I prefer to hear everything obstructed but The sure fire ep series are awesome.
I was issued them years ago and to this day my whole family uses them while at the range and on training days when I 1000’s of rounds will be shot.

I like to hear everything when hunting as well, I did forget to put on the ear protection one morning and after the first shot I was digging through the pack looking for it. Although a little bulky, I like the electronic model I’m using because it amplifies noises (steps) but muffles when shooting.

Depends what I’m hunting. If it’s dove with a lot of shooting then it’s Surefires. If it’s chukar then I’ll put the plugs in only once I’m on a covey or spot where I’m expecting them. I can just never get comfortable walking through the desert with limited hearing knowing that our local venomous snakes are kind enough to give us an auditory heads-up.

I have always wanted to hear everything around me.....Hence, never wearing ear protection.....And despite being a trap boy at very popular trap range for many years.....I can still hear a gobble from two miles away.....
