Technically, my only "success" (made a shot, but did not recover him after bloodtrailing 250+yds) with yotes so far was AFTER calling with mouth calls (I'd stopped several minutes ago, and had walked over and down into a draw and was working my way up that draw when he came down it, attempting to go circle around downwind of where I *had* been calling from)... because the battery in my remote died on the trip up because the buttons must have gotten depressed when it was loaded into the pack. (Why wouldn't those idiots put an on/off slider switch on the outside of the remote, Duh!)
I've been toying with the idea of doing some outings where I force myself to do mouth calls only. Since that time I've acquired several Dan Thompson calls, along with the Primos CatNip, and a Knight & Hale Rodent-Distress one as well. It's just that it gets a bit exhausting after awhile, so I get discouraged.
P.S. - I planned to go out this weekend, but my dog had several dental extractions done today, so I want to be here to observe her for the first couple of days, just in case something stupid happens like a suture opening up prematurely or something like that.
