I headed up to Lake Cascade for a 2 day ice fishing tournament this past weekend. The lake is known around the country for having one of the best jumbo yellow perch fisheries. They grown them big here. The state record is 3.22 lbs with a lot averaging 2lbs. I've never ice fished before so it was a great experience. The fishing was slow for our group but we had a blast over the 2 day weekend. First day was slow with only one guy in the group catching a nice 2 pounder and a few smaller ones and I finally caught one of my own on the 2nd day..wasn'ta jumbo but noce to land my first yellow perch. I think they are beautiful fish. We didn't place for the tournament but it was fun nonetheless. Learned how to use a fish flasher which was cool. Some people roll with a fish finder, flasher and underwater camera..lots of electronics but still can't make them bite if they aren't in the mood. Here are some pics from the weekend.
