I thought I'd share a nice shed I found today while chasing birds n bunnies.. probably the nicest pair I've found in SD. I was following a fresh deer trail just to see where it went and I stumbled on some heavy scrapes and then these were close by.

Cool article steveo... hey does anyone have any tips on staining weathered antlers? This set is pretty sun bleached. I'd like to get it looking new again. I read some stuff online but just wondering if anyone on here can offer some firsthand experience?

I used wood stain on a bleached out shed . Then take some sand paper on the tips.

Really cool that you found both sides. Were they close to each other?
Yep.. within a few feet of each other. Was surprised too.

Quite common.....Found this pair last year within inches of each other.

I leave them as I find them as in color then hang them on my chain. All San Diego besides one small fork and bison

To follow up on these sheds, I threw together a quick mount, sanded, stained and sealed em. I used some old Minwax Weathered Oak stain leftover from a past project, and used some darker walnut stain near the base where its usually darker. Also went back out to the spot where I found these and I saw the owner of these antlers, he's a good looking buck. I'll setup my cam sometime so I can try to get pics of him.

I know up here in WA shed hunting has gotten really popular. Is it like that down in southern CA? I haven't noticed many topics about shed hunting. Im moving down to San Diego in 10 days and was curious. Thanks.
